Position Overview

The Deputy Director of Parks and Recreation serves as a key member of the department's executive leadership team, supporting the Director in planning, developing, and managing park district. This position provides strategic oversight, supervises division managers, and represents the department in interagency and public settings.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Director in the day-to-day operations and long-term strategic planning of the district.
• Provide leadership and oversight of divisions such as Operations, Capital Projects, Business Development, and Natural Resources.
• Manage departmental budgets, resource allocation, and performance metrics.
• Cultivate partnerships with community organizations, stakeholders, and public agencies.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and grant requirements.
• Lead initiatives that promote equity, sustainability, and innovation in park services.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation, Public Administration, Urban Planning, Business Administration or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in parks and recreation, including supervisory and budgetary responsibility.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
